Catnap · free daily Queens-style logic puzzle

A Queens puzzle with cats

Catnap is a free Queens-style logic puzzle — the same rules as LinkedIn Queens, Star Battle, and Meowdoku. Place one sleeping cat in every row, every column, and every color region, with no two cats touching, not even diagonally. Every board has a single solution you can reach by pure deduction — no guessing.

There's a fresh daily puzzle the whole world shares, ranked by solve time, plus an unlimited ladder of practice levels and a growing daily archive of past boards with hints and answers. New here? Read the rules or pick up some Queens solving tips. No app, no ads gating your next puzzle, no sign-up to play.

How to play

  1. Place one sleeping cat in every row, every column, and every color region.
  2. Cats can't touch each other — not even diagonally.
  3. Tap a cell to mark a paw print (✕) where a cat can't be; double-tap to tuck a cat in.
  4. You have three hearts. Placing a cat where it can't sleep costs one.

Everyone in the world gets the same board each day, and the leaderboard ranks solves by time. If you're stuck, a hint shows you the deduction you missed instead of giving away the answer — every board is solvable by pure logic, no guessing required.

Frequently asked questions

Is Catnap free?

Yes. The daily board and the level ladder are free, in your browser, with no download and no sign-up required to play.

When does the daily puzzle reset?

At midnight UTC. Everyone gets the same new board at the same moment.

Is everyone solving the same board?

Yes — that's the point. One shared board per day, so your solve time means something on the leaderboard.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to play. Signing in (one click) saves your streak and locks your rank on the daily leaderboard.

Is it like Queens, Star Battle, or Meowdoku?

Yes — it's the same family of logic puzzle. Place exactly one piece per row, column, and color region, with no two touching (including diagonally). It's the same core ruleset as LinkedIn Queens, Star Battle, and Meowdoku; Catnap just wraps it in a nap-time frame, and every board is verified to have a single solution you can reason your way to.

Can I play unlimited puzzles, or is there an archive?

Both. Beyond the one shared daily board, the level ladder serves an unlimited run of boards that ramp up the logic techniques one at a time, and the daily archive keeps every past board with its hints and answer.

Can I keep playing after the daily?

Yes — the level ladder serves a sequence of boards that ramp up the logic techniques one at a time, so there's always another to solve.
